Thanks to our new data partnership with CIMA Beratung + Management GmbH, we are expanding IZ Research with high-quality retail data for 79 German cities.
Working together for liveable cities
The demands placed on urban development and real estate investments are increasing, particularly during periods of structural change in the retail sector. This makes reliable, comparable data more important for informed decision-making. IZ Research is now working with CIMA Beratung + Management GmbH, a strong partner who has been helping cities and municipalities become sustainable, resilient and liveable spaces for over 30 years.
“Our data-based market analyses and spatial information help to make inner-city development more transparent, comparable and strategically planable, ensuring resilient retail and real estate structures for the future,” says Olaf Petersen, Head of CIMA Immo.

What new data is available?
Thanks to our partnership with CIMA, IZ Research can now provide you with comprehensive retail data for 79 German cities, including all major cities with populations of 200,000 or more, as well as selected regional centres.
Available key figures (among others):
- Retail space and sales (city centre vs. rest of the city).
- Space productivity
- Rents, purchase price factors and yields for commercial properties
- Comparative benchmarks for better categorisation of the markets
- as well as the appropriate geo-polygons to define prime locations.
This data is based on CIMA’s ongoing surveys and many years of project experience in retail and property consultancy. The data is available as a time series from 2013 to 2023/24 and is updated annually. This provides an accurate picture of developments, trends and potential in the German retail estate market.
